Tens of thousands of holidaymakers and adventurers are set to descend on Sandown Racecourse from October 8 to 11 for Australia’s biggest RV, camping and 4×4 show, Melbourne Leisurefest.
Presented by the Caravan Industry Association Victoria (CIA VIC) and the Victorian Automobile Chamber of Commerce (VACC), the event will showcase thousands of the latest RV, camping, 4×4 and outdoors products and accessories from Australia’s leading manufacturers.
More Australians are looking to their own backyard to spend their valuable holiday time than ever with 34% more caravans, motorhomes and other RVs on the the road than in 2008 and over 30 million nights a year spent in caravan parks and camp grounds.
With so many of us choosing Australian holiday destinations, events like Melbourne Leisurefest are the best place to inspire a great adventure.
Rob Lucas, CEO of the CIA VIC says its fantastic to see so many families experiencing the outdoors.
“The love affair with our industry just continues, and why wouldn’t it? It’s a great leisure activity to get out and about and with the product our industry is producing there’s virtually nowhere in Australia you can’t go.”
Now in its 8th year, Melbourne Leisurefest is more than just a product show, but an event where visitors can see, touch and experience all aspects of outdoor life.
The 4×4 Village will be back again this year and visitors can see all the best 4×4 parts, accessories and touring vehicles in one place plus AL-KO will be demonstrating their electronic brake actuation system (ESC) on the track. Visitors will be able to ride in the passenger seat to get a feel of how different caravans tow.
For fishermen, the spectacular 15 metre long, 3 metre high Yamaha Supertank gives a ‘fish-eye view’ as experts demonstrate the different types of lures and how fish respond to them just like they would out on the water.
And from Broome to Byron Bay and everywhere in between, all corners of Australia will be also represented by tourism officials who know their regions inside and out and can help travellers make more informed decisions about where they would like to visit.
In addition, a new Centre Stage will host product demonstrations, cooking classes, competitions and live music to get the crowd rocking, an expanded kids’ area will have lots of fun and entertainment to ensure that the whole family has a great day out and shuttle buggies will ensure everyone can get around the show with ease.
